Dr. Elinor Garely is an experienced international journalist, and marketing/business consultant specializing in the hospitality, travel, tourism, and wine industries. She also reviews the cosmetic, fashion and interior design industries. Currently Dr. Garely is a Reporter at eturbonews.com, etn.travel, the WorldTourismNetwork.travel, and the Editor-in-Chief at wines.travel.
Dr. Garely has been a professor of management/marketing and the Coordinator of the hotel, travel, and tourism program at CUNY, BMCC. She has been a member of the business management/marketing faculty at Long Island University, NYU Stern School of Business, and the University of Shanghai, PRC. She has worked as an international marketing/management executive for Playboy Clubs/Hotels, Copacabana/related restaurants/clubs, Helmsley Spear (Hospitality Consultant Division), and Babcock and Wilcox – Public Relations, Speech Writer. She has also been a marketing consultant for GlobalGlam (Sample Sales), an expert witness for TASA Technical Advisory Services for Attorneys, and a wine ambassador for House of Barton & Guestier, Chateau Magnol. Dr. Garely has worked as a real estate sales/broker for the hotel industry with Helmsley-Spear, Inc. and Wilder Group.
Dr. Garely has extensive experience in developing/ implementing hotel management training programs in the USA, China (PRC), Malaysia, and the Caribbean. She designed and implemented the first hotel joint venture in Russia and the first hotel/restaurant management program at the University of Shanghai, PRC. Dr. Garely received a Ford Foundation grant to study the role of Community Colleges in the PRC and was a consultant to the Kenya government exploring economic development opportunities in the USA.
Her research focus Includes topics such as guest safety/security at 5-star/luxury hotels in Bangkok, Thailand, Cape Town, South Africa, and Miami, Florida (dissertation), child trafficking, eMarketing, and what women want in hotels.
